Your interviewer just asked.
The answer is already there.

Real recordings. Not a mockup.

These are actual screen captures of ZeroLagAI during use. No staging, no edits.

Listens and answers automatically. No button, ever.

Your interviewer finishes speaking. ZeroLagAI detects the silence and streams a clear answer before your nerves catch up. You do nothing. No shortcut, no click, no trigger.

What is the difference between a process and a thread, and when would you use each?
✦ Answer
A process is an isolated program with its own memory space. A thread is a unit of execution within a process, sharing memory with other threads in the same process.

Use threads when tasks need to share data cheaply (e.g. a web server handling concurrent requests). Use separate processes when isolation matters (e.g. browser tabs, microservices).

Features

Everything built around one question:

What would actually help someone think more clearly under pressure? Every feature answers that.

Automatic voice detection

Listens continuously to system audio. Detects when your interviewer finishes speaking and fires the answer pipeline. Zero buttons required.

Screenshot capture

Press a shortcut and drag a region. Any coding problem, SQL schema, system diagram, or chart on your screen gets analyzed in the same pipeline.

Markdown reference files

Load your prep guide as a .md file before the session starts. The AI applies it as context to every answer. Your Java notes, system design templates, company research.

Invisible to screen share

The overlay uses OS-level screen protection and is excluded from all screen capture APIs. Zoom, Meet, Teams, and OBS cannot see it. It appears only on your physical display.

Streaming answers

The first word appears in about a second. The full answer streams word by word, so you start reading while it is still being generated and waste no time.

Type any question manually

Not everything is spoken. If a question appears on a slide or you just want to ask something directly, one shortcut focuses the input and you type it in. Same fast answer.

How it works

Set it up once. It handles the rest.

ZeroLagAI is a desktop app on your own machine. No account login mid-interview, no cloud dependency. Configure it once, then forget the setup exists.

1

Start the app and set your context

Launch ZeroLagAI before the call. Optionally load a Markdown reference file with your prep notes. Set your system audio to BlackHole (Mac) or Stereo Mix (Windows) so the app hears your interviewer through system audio, not your mic.

optional: load any .md prep file
one-time audio routing setup
2

Feed it the question any way you need

Voice detection runs automatically. For anything visual on screen, press ⌘S to enter capture mode, then select the region you want. You can take multiple screenshots in one go: a diagram, then a code block, then a schema. When you are done selecting, click Ask and all of them get analyzed together. For anything you want to type yourself, one shortcut opens the manual input.

auto voice, no trigger needed
⌘S capture mode, select any region, multi-shot
click Ask when done to submit all screenshots
⌘Enter to type a question manually
3

A clear answer streams into the overlay

The first word appears in about a second. The full answer streams word by word directly into a quiet overlay on your screen. It is excluded from all screen capture APIs so only you can see it. Lean on it fully or use it just to jog your memory.

ZeroLagAI vs cloud tools

An honest side-by-side.

There are cloud-based interview assistants already on the market. Here is what the comparison actually looks like.

ZeroLagAI Cloud-based tools
Speed ~1 second from question end to first answer word. No server round-trip per request. Network latency on every request. Gets worse under load or weak wifi.
Input modes Voice, screenshot, manual typing, and prep notes. Four input modes, one app. Voice only. If the problem is on screen, you are on your own.
Context Load your own Markdown file. Your prep notes applied to every answer. Generic answers only. No way to load your preparation or role-specific notes.
Reliability Not dependent on a remote connection holding for the full interview hour. Reports of dropped or unresponsive speech detection mid-interview.
Privacy Audio and screen on your machine. Only the final LLM call leaves your device. Audio and screen content routed through a third-party cloud server.
Price From $20/mo. Choose a light plan or go unlimited. Up to $150/mo for unlimited. Credit-hour pricing that's hard to predict mid-session.

Early access pricing

Simple, honest pricing.

Pick what fits how often you're interviewing. No credit gymnastics either way.

FAQ

The questions most people ask first.

That is a question worth sitting with, and only you can answer it. Most people use ZeroLagAI as a safety net, not a shortcut. You still have to know what you are talking about when the interviewer pushes back or asks a follow-up. What it removes is the blank moment when a nervous system refuses to cooperate. Whether that is cheating is your call. It is not a substitute for preparation.
No, and this is not a workaround or a trick. ZeroLagAI uses the operating system's native screen protection API, the same one used by banking apps and password managers to prevent their windows from being captured. Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, and OBS are excluded at the OS level. The overlay appears only on your physical display, not in any recording or screen share.
Audio transcription runs locally on your machine. Screen captures are analyzed locally. Your Markdown reference file never leaves your device. The only outbound request is the final prompt to the language model that generates your answer. That is unavoidable since the LLM lives in the cloud, but everything before it stays on your hardware.
Load any Markdown file before the interview. Your Java prep guide, system design notes, company research, or a custom cheatsheet. ZeroLagAI reads the full file and applies it as context for every answer in the session. Load a different file for each role or company.
Starter includes 10 sessions a month, about $2 each. A good fit if you interview occasionally. Unlimited is built for an active search with interviews most weeks, with fair use applying so the plan stays sustainable for everyone. One session covers one interview, up to 60 minutes.
ZeroLagAI is a desktop app for Mac and Windows. It works alongside any video call platform: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or anything else. Nothing is required on the interviewer's side.
